Meet the Artist - Kara Waters
I am a fine art oil painter, digital artist and avid art lover. I create abstract art, representational art, and I absolutely love creating texture using marble and cold wax medium!
I have always been drawn to beauty. I am amazed by the lavish radiance of nature. I often find myself
rapt in wonder while viewing the splendor of both the extraordinary and mundane in the world around and within us.
I believe that we were created to be loved and to enjoy the beauty around us.
Creating art is my joyful expression of love and beauty that I offer to the world.

-Kara Waters
In grade school, I loved to draw and color, so I took advantage of any opportunity I found to take art classes, learn artistic tips and try various techniques. In 5th grade, I was honored to win a contest for drawing the new emblem for my school, E. L. Ficquett Elementary School in Covington, Georgia! Following elementary school, my focus turned more toward my love of music and my efforts to become more proficient at singing.
After focusing on other forms of art which I enjoy (singing and songwriting, hairstyling, and makeup artistry), I found that I missed the creative process of traditional works of art immensely. After becoming a wife and mother, it became increasingly difficult to carve out time, but I was in desperate need of the therapeutic release that expressing myself artistically provides. While not always easy to do, I prioritized carving out time to create artwork using graphite and colored pencils, alcohol ink and markers, charcoal sticks and pencils, pan pastels, chalk pastels and oil pastels.
In an effort to avoid the time, space, and materials needed in order to make traditional art, I chose a path that would remove those obstacles and entered the world of digital art. Using my iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and various apps and software, I found that I could create pieces that produced an end result so close to traditional mediums that I was blown away! I continued my art education by taking online courses taught by wonderful artists, such as Gabrielle Brickey and Dave Reed. I'm always pursuing new and wonderful ways to expand my knowledge, and I continue learning online from amazing artists, such as Alaina Jensen, Lois van Baarle, and others.
I have, also, fallen in love with oil painting! I combine abstract realism and 3D details using marble, cold wax medium, gold and silver leaf and other mixed media. These elements create stunning layers of luscious color, rich depth and unique textured points of interest! It is my hope that you enjoy owning my artworks as much as I enjoy creating them for you!
